This
is a quiet little fic with the unlikely setting of a bachelor
party at Skinner's. (Don't worry, none of the boys are getting
hitched.) Skinner is feeling bored by the porn and worried
by the amount of alcohol and the potential results thereof.
Several odd conversations with Mulder are the high points
of his evening.
Personal
objection: I understand the symbolical meaning of the condoms
and all, but I still wonder why they couldn't have done anything
not involving exchange of bodily fluids. It seems cruel sending
them off to their separate beds.
This
time, Mulder follows Krycek to a discreet club. Krycek disappears
inside, but when Mulder tries to follow, he has to receive
an invitation to get in. Krycek agrees to take responsibility
for his visit and shows Mulder some things he didn't know
about himself.
Sounds
unoriginal, I know, but go on and read it. It's well written
and Krycek looks good as a Master.

Devil
to Pay (crossover with Neil Gaiman's "Sandman")
by John Blonde,
The Devil/Mulder, 2001-11-04
I
certainly didn't plan it so I'd only be reccing crossovers
in the X-files section. I promise you, more non-crossover
recs are coming! But if you enjoyed "Sandman" by
Gaiman, you'll probably like this - especially if you liked
his Lucifer Morningstar. The story is part of a newly web-released
zine called "Dance With the Devil" published by
Infinity
Press. Check the whole thing out in their Zine Archive
section. (Recently, I haven't been able to access their page.)
To
the story:
Mulder
tries a fancy new restaurant. The staff is a bit eccentric
in that they all wear masks. The only one without one, in
fact, is the man sitting at the piano. Mulder decides to flirt.
Sounds like a simple enough plot, but the whole thing becomes
a very strange experience for Mulder. As I said, if you like
"Sandman", try this.

China
(crossover with Highlander) by Torch,
Methos/Mulder, 2001-10-10
Let's
start out with a crossover! This is a wonderfully long (302
k) story which has Mulder and Scully solving an X-file as
well as Methos trying to disappear in a small town name of
China. The hiding-out part won't work for Methos, since he
unknowingly disrupts a symbol on the floor of the attic in
the house he's renting. This is what makes all sort of strange
things start to happen and which ultimately brings Mulder
and Scully to investigate.
I
should say at this point that the Highlander part of this
story restricts itself to Methos (no Scottish brooding men
and absolutely no swordfights).
Methos
is lovely flirting, and Mulder takes him up on it, even though
he shouldn't (Methos being an actual suspect for the case
and all). The result is a liberating and very short affair.
While
you're at Torch's place, check out the Recs section.
