This here, people, is Real People Slash. If you decide to read this type of fic, keep in mind that the people portrayed are not characters played by actors, but the people themselves (even though they to some extent play the parts of "famous people"). I feel vaguely dirty reading RPS (but since I'm reccing these stories, there must be something good in them to overcome the dirtiness). The following will be mostly *NSYNC recs.

Master Plan by Amber, Chris/JC, 2003-02-16

JC is annoying and gullible and is always dating short, pudgy losers who think they're funny but really aren't. Chris has a master plan. It starts as one thing, and becomes something else.

Two Pair And a Diamond Jack by Music Diamond, Lance/Britney, Lance/JC, Chris/JC, 2002-10-03

Crime bosses, a disillusioned P.I., a sophisticated moll, burly gangsters and sparkling diamonds. Fidelity and treason, love and lust, black and white. The world is a grey place to exist in. The greyest place of them all is LA in the 30s.

Read it. It's lovely, detailed, beautiful and has an incredible amount of work behind it.

And I loved it.

:::

wishes memorized, mistakes remembered by Cliokat, Lance/Britney, 2002-09-17

Britney and Justin are fighting and making up, fighting and making up.

:::

Canadia by V, Chris/Justin, 2002-09-17

An AU where the boys watch hockey and drink beer and do very little of anything else.

:::

Scrambled Aches by Amber, Nick/JC, 2002-06-29

This is just about the worst pairing I can think of. And Amber makes it extremely interesting.

Nick is seriously fucked up.

:::

What I Do by Synchronik, Chris/JC, Justin/JC, 2002-06-29

This is one of the fics written because of the "Take Back the Songfic" challenge, which produced a lot of good quality.

Justin/JC is sometimes underrated, because of the huge amount of bad fic the pairing has inspired. It's nice to remember that there are good ones, too.

:::

Horned!Sync by Stubbleglitter, *NSYNC, 2002-06-16

Five strange and nice fics. What would happen if they suddenly sprouted horns?

:::

The Last Place by Jae, Chris/Justin, Chris/JC, Lance/JC, 2002-06-06

Chris Kirkpatrick, Private Investigator. Justin Timberlake, young assistant. Lance Bass needs something done.

Such a beautiful piece of workmanship. Keeps its tone all the way through.

:::

Normal Just Like You by Mare, Britney-centric, 2002-05-24

This is an interesting look at the relationships of the group. Who are considered 'family', and who are not? What does it mean to be 'family'?

Confusion and resignation.

:::

Busy, Busy, Busy by Silvia, Chris/Justin, 2002-05-03

Justin doesn't know who he is and how he should behave. Books help him. Not.

It's a sad story.

:::

Mental Boy by Rhys, Joey/JC, 2002-04-13

The strangeness that is JC.

:::

Something to Say by Synchronik, Chris/Lance, 2002-04-13

This has quickly become one of my favourites. It's so sweet, in that special Synchronik way. I think Synchronik is why I love Chris/Lance.

:::

Dirt by Cappuccino, Nick/Justin Chris/Justin, 2002-04-05

This is one of the most cliché-free series I've read. Nick is a very complicated person, and I'm not sure I'll ever feel that I understand him.

Chris is cruel when he's high. Justin and Nick eat beans and lentils.

:::

Affair by Calico, Chris/Justin, 2002-03-27

Speaking of sexy fics. It's kind of callous, but not too callous.

Chris tries Justin out.

:::

Slave to Love by Nix, Lance/JC, 2002-03-27

This is a kind of fic I rarely like, because the psychology behind this kind of story very rarely feels real. I can't say it rings entirely true here either, but it's such a nice idea. Also, I don't think this is meant to be a deep fic. And. The sex scenes are very good.

JC is a pleasure slave and Lance buys him.

:::

Idol by Rhys, Chris/Justin, 2002-03-21

This is a horrible story. Horrible in a well-written way.

Justin thinks Chris is the coolest guy ever.

:::

Shiny and New by Tiffany Rawlins, Justin/Lance, 2002-03-21

It made me cry, it was so intense in parts. I don't cry often when reading.

Lance is gay and Justin is vaguely interested and bored. Except it's not that way at all.

:::

Guerillas by Helen, Chris/JC, Joey/Justin, 2002-03-14

Normally, I don't want to rec stories that aren't finished yet, but this is such a classic by now, I feel I have to. Besides, this isn't a beginning-middle-end type of story anyway - more like short stories in a timeline. I can't imagine you'll be disappointed if you try it.

It's an AU thing, as you might have guessed from the title.

:::

The Unnamed Trilogy by Kristen, Justin/Britney, Justin/JC, 2002-03-14

Sweet, sad love story, mostly about growing up. Three parts with three different points of view. Featuring Chris, the Drunken Elf Sage.

:::

Normal life by Jae, Chris/Justin, 2002-03-07

A closer look at a fake life, and a real one, and one that maybe should have been. I wish Jae would write a really long fic about the one that maybe should have been. I love College AUs.

:::

Understand and its sequel Comprehension by Emmy, Lance/JC, Chris/Justin, 2002-03-07

Mild D/s games, very tastefully written.

:::

Ironic by Synchronik, Justin/Chris, 2002-02-27

In which people have huge chrises on other people.

:::

Kink by Rhys, Chris/Lance, 2002-02-27

A rather unusual way to write kinky stories.

Chris convinces Lance to try some things with him. Sometimes they like what they try, sometimes not. It's all very un-sentimental and pretty funny at times. There's a twist at the end, though, that wraps it up nicely.

:::

Buying a Clue by Lennie, Lance/Justin, 2002-02-20

Funny!

This is mostly dialogue and rather long. *NSYNC play a game where they pretend they're superheroes. The game gives Lance a way to put Justin in his place, and it gradually develops into flirting.

There is now a sequel: The Hard Way

:::

Unblinded by Kaelie, JC/Justin, 2002-02-20

It's kind of the same theme as Sleeping Beauty, but in this, it's JC being so used to looking at Justin as a child, immature and someone who needs to be taken care of. Then, everything flips, and JC realizes what he should have noticed a long time ago.

:::

Sleeping Beauty by Jae, JC/Justin, 2002-02-14

JC doesn't pay attention. Then he suddenly does. JC's confused.

While you're at Jae's, read the rest of her stories. They're good.

:::

Implicit by Cimorene, Justin/Chris, 2002-02-14

The idea that this fic builds on is interesting. It has to do with whether two friends or lovers should know each other completely or not. Justin is troubled and disappointed and thinks that he and Chris are drifting apart since he sometimes feels that he doesn't know what Chris is thinking.

The link is to part one. Click on "next" at the bottom of the page to get to part two and three.

:::

Join the Club, Version 3 by Julad, Justin, 2002-01-26

This is Justin-centric. It seems that all the other bandmembers are gay, and sleeping with each other. Justin feels left out. Sounds like a totally weak plot, but Julad has built it out and made it very psychological.

:::

Flame by Rhys, JC/Lance, 2002-01-12

Imprint by Wax Jism, Justin/Lance, 2002-01-12

Synchronik's fics at Joe's Eats And Christian Bookshop, 2002-01-12

Flame is a lovely fic centered around JC and his confusion about his sexual identity. Features a very sweet Lance.

Imprint is a Lance story, about daring to tear down self-imposed walls. I like the way he just breaks when confronted with Justin.

Synchronik is a good author. Read everything. Your Gay Best Friend, for example, is very sweet.
